Issue 32

"So instead of adopting a strict regimen of sit-ups and leg-lifts, I vow to put myself on a strict weeding program: 15 minutes a day to clear up all those unsightly oxalis, dandelions, and blackberry vines. In place of a jar of foundation, I find myself lingering over bottles of oil designed to make houseplant leaves shine (never mind the clogged pores caused by either product). Diet pills and weight loss shakes are replaced by synthetic fertilizers to push my flowers beyond their natural limits. I even find myself tempted by the gardening equivalent of a padded bra: huge, flowering, one-gallon annuals such as cosmos and snapdragons to fill in the bare spots."
