Issue 38

"About 2:00 a.m., a noise startled me out of sleep. It came from
the lower left corner of my backyard. Actually, it was a combination of
sounds: dogs barking excitedly in varying in pitches and tones, along with
muffled sounds I'd never heard before. I bolted from my bed and grabbed the
pistol from the closet. The whole world seemed surreal and dreamlike as I
ran down the hall and through the kitchen. The living-room chair that I
always sat comfortably in looked completely unfamiliar. The dining-room
table seemed out of place. I was running through my house with a gun in my
hand to confront this THING I had been hearing about on the news.
Everything felt out of sync."
