Issue 41

"I guess it really started when my dear friend Mitchell, an elderly gentleman with an architect's eye for detail, presented me with a generous assortment of garden tools as a birthday gift. I stood in the driveway as he unloaded three kinds of rakes, four shovels, two funny-shaped hoes, a few long-handled I-know-not-whats, a pair of trowels, and four big-heavy-things-with-sharp-points from the back seat of his silver Lincoln Town Car. Such a gift arrives once in a gardener's life, and I was truly touched by his generosity. Too bad I didn't have a clue what I would do with them, although I must say each came with a lovely green bow."
