"You see, Mr. Farino was what you'd call quarrelsome. Some might even say nasty, narrow-minded, over-critical, and a man who could singe your ears swearing. And that would be true. Yet, Mr. Farino was also a gardener. A planter of laughing daisies and a caretaker of buds, though he had the downturned mouth of a fish and a dog he'd trained to be so fierce he had to take her for rides in the car with the doors locked because she was too dangerous.
