Issue 52

" 'You want me to drive three-and-a-half hours to go where?' he said. 'To Boston,' I told him. 'For the Flower Show.' 'A flower show? Three-and-a-half hours? Each way? In one day? Can't we just go to Home Depot and look at flowers there?' 'Nope, it's a big show. You'll have fun.' Lesson One: Never tell a 38-year-old man that doesn't garden that he will 'have fun' at a flower show. He won't. He may put up with it. He may enjoy your company. He may even have passing moments of interest. But he won't 'have fun.' "
